Wind Generator Plans

Wind Power Designs

Wind Generator Plans- You Gotta Have A Plan !

So you want to build your own small wind generator. Any self respecting do-it-yourselfer could cobble together a wind generator- it's easy! It's not like building a car from a car kit or scrapping together parts for a hydroelectric plant in the creek in your backyard. But you need a plan.

The solution for do-it-youselfers is to work it up on their own and find a quality set of plans so that they can easily and effectively use it to build their own wind power generator to produce cheap electricity. For those who are not the do-it-yourself type of person, purchasing a residential wind turbine kit that’s pre-built would be the best option for you. You just do the installation.

Building a wind generator from scratch takes a lot of time and effort.  However, there are several wind generator plans available that are easy to use and affordable. The generator you build will work for years and building your wind generator could also be a fun and educational project for your family.

Building a small wind generator is not that difficult. You will need a shop for basic power and hand tools and, of course a bit of determination. Larger wind generators with 2000watts or more are major projects requiring stronger construction. On the other hand, smaller generators of 700-1000 watts with 8 to 11 foot towers can be easily built. It is advisable that you first try building a smaller wind turbine with a set of good plans before you try working on a bigger one. You may need to cut and weld steel, and a metal lathe can be a handy tool , but you can also hire a machine shop to turn brake rotors and do some of the precision work for you.

Wind generator plans can cost you $150 or more, and these written guides also give you material costs and everything you need to know and learn. They are usually written professionally so that you can follow and comprehend them easily. But as usual- buyer beware!

Professionally made wind turbines may cost you from $2000 to more than $10000 for  full installation. But if you opt to build your own, you will recoup your initial investment and generate electricity for years to come.  In the end, with good wind generator plans, a do-it-yourselfer can build a wind generator that favorably compares to those that are professionally built. It is a fun and affordable project to consider.
