Windmill Power
Wind Generated Power

Windmill power has been used to provide
power to machines for a long time. It was not unusual to see windmills
on farms to help mill the grains. Now wind power is being utilized not
just for these simple farm endeavors but also to provide power to even
large cities by creating electricity. The U.S Census indicated that
more than 17 million homes in the United States are located in areas
that are suitable for small wind
generator systems . If these homes were to
actually put wind generators to use, there would be huge savings in
the consumption of electricity from the normal means.
To really understand wind power, you may want
to know how wind itself is actually generated. Find out here:
What
is wind power ?
Wind
for Fuel?
Wind is the source
for wind power generators.Current technology requires a minimum of 9
MPH
wind velocity to run most small wind
generators and you can determine if you are located in an area like
this
through wind maps.
The U.S. Department of Energy's EERE (Energy Efficiency and Renewable
Energy) website has some great state by state maps on wind resources in the U.S. To
determine if you are suitable to make
use of a wind generator system you would want your home to be found in
a
Class Two site or better.
